Bruce Willis Stars in 'Death Wish' Remake Trailer

The original Death Wish, while criticized for being exploitative in its depiction of the brutal murder and rape of its protagonist's family and its lionization of vigilantism, has a legitimacy to its argument as a response to the rising crime of the era.

The film has been described as a "reimagining of the classic 1974 revenge thriller Death Wish" and its synopsis reads: "Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of Chicago violence when it is rushed into his ER - until his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and college-age daughter (Camila Morrone) are viciously attacked in their suburban home".

Film critic Alan Zilberman called the clip "so nakedly fascist that alt-righters will have an erection before the trailer ends".

The best kind of Bruce Willis is the violent action hero Willis.

Charles Bronson starred in the original 1974 Death Wish film (in turn based on a 1972 Brian Garfield novel) as Paul Kersey (Paul Benjamin in the novel), a NY man who turns vigilante following the murder of his wife.

Roth, who lists "Unforgiven, ' "Eastern Promises, ' 'Taken, ' and 'Man on Fire" as his inspiration for the remake, believes 'Death Wish" will be a return to form for Willis. "The fun is watching him go insane and watching someone slowly move the moral goal post".

The originals famously had Charles Bronson in the main role but this time round, Bruce Willis is the vengeful father and widower who's taken the law into his own hands. The film also stars Vincent D'Onofrio, Jack Kesy, Dean Norris, and Mike Epps. Death Wish will be in theaters on November 22nd.
