Holiday travelers are amazed at OH gas prices

The average is $2.28 per gallon, which is almost 12 cents cheaper than previous year.

At the rest stop along Interstate-71 North near Columbus, holiday travelers 10TV spoke to from as far away as NY and MI were pleasantly surprised to see Ohio's gas prices.

Gas prices continue to plummet across the Bradenton-Sarasota area as well as Florida, with Monday marking the 30th consecutive day of falling costs. The auto club notes the Great Lakes region is finally experiencing some price stability, and Michigan's price drop over the past week and the last month is the second-largest in the nation. That's one cent higher than the national average of $2.23. GasBuddy's Dan McTeague says current prices are less than they were on New Year's day. Couple this with crude oil prices averaging $46 a barrel, and you have prices at the pump on the decline, according to the release.

The last time the average has been this cheap was in 2005, according to AAA Northeast. "Oil prices have rebounded".
