Intel showcases new PC gaming, virtual reality experiences

While the first couple of E3 2017 press conferences were a bit of a disappointment for virtual reality (VR) news, the last couple have greatly improved matters.

The massive competition itself is the new Intel Grand Slam for CS:GO, with an additional $1 million for any team that manages to stop the Intel Grand Slam victor.

"Intel has been a key partner for us since 2001, and the partnership was extended globally with the launch of the Intel® Extreme Masters in 2006", said Ralf Reichert, CEO at ESL. They're offering a $1 million bonus prize to te whoever wins 4-out-of-the-10 matches.

Intel and ESL have announced a partnership that not only brings Intel technology to all of its events, but bolsters the prize pool of many of its CS:GO events.

Any team that can defeat any potential Intel Grand Slam victor, however, will earn $100,000. For example, should a team have three wins under their belt and are defeated on their final tournament, the team which defeated them will get $100,000.

ESL, the world's largest esports company, and Intel announced today that they are expanding their 15-year partnership to further advance the worldwide growth and development of esports. The first event to count towards the Grand Slam prize will be the upcoming $250,000 ESL One Cologne, which will take place at the Lanxess Arena from July 7-9.

At the top of the stack is the new Intel Core i9 Extreme Edition processor, the first consumer desktop processor with 18 cores and 36 threads of power to handle heavy gaming, VR and content creation.

The next step for ESL and Intel's relationship comes in the form of "The Intel Grand Slam" a ten event circuit that grants the victor of four events $1,000,000.
