Canadian duo behind Wonder Woman comics buoyed by film's box office success

A movie theater in the Palestinian city of Ramallah has made a decision to refrain from screening this month's #1 movie around the world, Wonder Woman, which stars Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot for what appear to be politically motivated reasons.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior.

"I knew this was going to be a good movie", says Finch, who was a stay-at-home mom with just a couple years' writing experience when tapped by DC on the strength of her pitch. With that result, "Wonder Woman" will see its ten-day domestic cume pushed north of $200 million and its worldwide cume pushed north of $400 million.

"Apparently Palestine Towers Cinema in Ramallah fears that the audience will enjoy the excellent film 'Wonder Woman, ' and can not separate politics from an American film", Major General Yoav (Poly) Mordechai wrote in a Facebook post Sunday. "That scene was just a slightly tense scene of them walking".

Not only will "Wonder Woman" hold on to the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row with an estimated $57.2 million, it's also bringing in a holdover total higher than its DC predecessors, "Batman v Superman" and "Suicide Squad". She said the pressure placed on Jenkins and Gadot is "giving the stereotype of, 'Oh, yeah, this one woman has to represent all women, ' and that's not how that works". But, with people eager to see this film on repeat viewings and it being one of the best films in theaters at the moment, Wonder Woman should continue make its presence felt in the weeks to come. After three divisive but ultimately profitable releases, WB's DC Extended Universe has got the proper jumpstart it needed with the launch of Gal Gadot's solo film. The plot is admittedly predictable for a standard superhero origin story and the dialogue squeaks awkwardly before picking up steam in some places, and yet Jenkins' "Wonder Woman" differentiates itself from movies of its kind in part with Gadot's mixture of vulnerability and fearlessness.

When she discovers Steve Trevor (Chris Pine, Star Trek Beyond) a pilot who has crashed on the island and tells them of the war that's happening in the world, Diana vows to help fight alongside him as well as take down General Ludendorff (Danny Huston, TV's American Horror Story) and Isabel Maru (Elena Anaya) who are creating a deadly gas to be used by the German Army.
