UK's May would change rights laws to curb terrorism

In one of her final speeches before Thursday's British General Election, Mrs May stepped up her rhetoric against extremism and pledged to ensure security services have the powers they require.

"And we should do even more to restrict the freedom and the movements of terrorist suspects when we have enough evidence to know they present a threat, but not enough evidence to prosecute them in full in court".

Khan claimed proposed changes to the police funding formula would take the total cuts to 1.7 billion bounds ($2.2 billion).

British security services already possess wide anti-terrorism powers that have been denounced by Amnesty International as among "the most draconian" in Europe. She shared a video of her's in the wake of London attacks. We said there may be circumstances where it is necessary to do this. The most recent one was carried out on Saturday, when three men drove a vehicle into pedestrians on London Bridge before continuing in the direction of Borough Market.

Twenty-three people, including children, were killed and almost 120 others were injured, 23 critically. New university investment funds will be publicly listed for investors to finance the commercialization of discoveries, the party said. Twelve others arrested after the attack have since been released without charge. However, May clarified that she only wants to impose travel restrictions on terrorist suspects.

May's proposals, said the Guardian, follow criticism from Labour and other parties about her cuts to policing and approach to tackling terrorism in the Home Office, which she led for six years before becoming prime minister last year.

She replaced them with less restrictive T-pims. The ECHR was drafted in 1950 by a Conservative lawyer David Maxwell-Fyfe to protect the human rights of people in the 47 countries, that signed-up following the second world war.

While European Union countries are all signatories to the convention, Brexit does not mean the United Kingdom will automatically or necessarily withdraw from it.

The Conservative Party manifesto states there will be no withdrawal from the EHCR during the next parliament, meaning May is probably hinting at "derogation".

Theresa May's team say she is not, at this late stage, making up last-minute policy, but that the terror risk has changed so fast since the start of the election, that she wanted to make clear that if re-elected she is prepared to toughen the law.

The European Court of Human Rights - which upholds the convention - has ruled that people can not be deported to another country if they face the risk of torture or execution there.

It has been suggested the Tory leader may need to pull out of aspects of the European Convention on Human Rights to push through the changes.

"If Theresa May does what she threatens, she will go down in history as the Prime Minister who handed terrorists their greatest victory", said the group's director Martha Spurrier.

Mr Khan said the force stood to lose between 3,400 and 12,800 constables, a reduction in strength of ten to 40 per cent, making it harder to foil future terrorist atrocities.
