WatchOS 4: Top 4 new features you need to know from WWDC

Apple has unveiled its new operating system for the Apple Watch at WWDC 2017, called watchOS 4.

Apple has released details of watchOS 4 to developers at the company's annual keynote address at WWDC. First up along the line is the Siri Watch Face. Other watchfaces have come along such as the Kaleidoscope face and characters from Disney's "Toy Story" franchise.

The activity tracking has updated as well with more functionality and the Workout app has a brand new UI. Apple says Watch wearers will be able to link their devices with the gym equipment through NFC.

The standard Apple Watch is available in 4 different casings, including rose gold and silver, and comes equipped with a sports band, priced at $269. For instance, watchOS 4 introduces personalized, monthly workout challenges that prompt you to surpass your prior goals with new awards you can earn by increasing your activity.

The new OS generation should mean a richer set of supported apps, but there are a few in particular that users are craving for the Apple Watch. It can also measure your high intensity workout training. It's likely Apple will follow the same format as the launch of watchOS 3 previous year, which saw the release of a beta test phase immediately following the presentation. Now, when you close one of your Activity rings, there's an animation with some sparkles that gives it more of an effect.

"Apple Watch is created to help you live a healthier life", CEO Tim Cook said, "and people are absolutely loving the fitness capabilities, the health capabilities, the quick access to information, and even the ability to swim with it". With the update, you can navigate through the album art by turning the Digital Crown. The company has addressed the problems with gym equipment as well with WatchOS 4.

Finally, there's a redesigned app dock in watchOS 4, which will let you scramble throw your apps by simply rotating the dial on the side. WatchOS 4 will also support native core Bluetooth. Instant playlists will get played and they can be toggled by swiping left on the active Workout page.
