Jutanugarn takes No. 1 spot; Creamer, Kim lead in New Jersey

Sharmila Nicollet, of India, tees off on the fifth hole of the ShopRite LPGA Classic golf tournament Friday, June 2, 2017, in Galloway Township, N.J. She almost won this tournament as an amateur in 2004 but missed a putt on the final green and wound up tying for second behind Cristie Kerr.

"I feel like I enjoy this place, but at the same time, I don't feel like I have anything to prove here", Nordqvist said.

Already the first golfer from the region to win a Major championship when she claimed the Women's British Open a year ago, she has now made more history without hitting a ball. Her best finish has been tied-42 so far, but she is steadily adapting to the conditions in the United States of America, where she has started playing regularly now. Ive been playing good for a long time now, so just tying get everything to click at once.

But Creamer faltered Sunday.

"Just so windy. It was tough", Kim said.

Kim and Creamer finished two shots ahead of the field at 9-under-par 133 on Saturday after the second round at the Bay Course at the Stockton Seaview Resort and Golf Club just west of Atlantic City.

"I definitely want to become number one at some point, and I'm working really hard for that as well". "I've missed just three greens today".

Tied with Paula Creamer for the second-round lead, Kim closed with a two-under 69 for a two-stroke victory over Nordqvist at Stockton Seaview in Galloway Township, N.J. I knew there was a time I was going to kind of break through. 16 and 17, but just got a little mucky.

Kim was making her sixth start since returning from a injury sustained falling down stairs.

"It's hang in there today, and then tomorrow [this morning, Thai time] if I have a solid day it would be good for me". The Smiths Falls, Ont., native shot a 69 and is 5 under.

She said she had been "pretty nervous" through much of the round due to the testing breeze and also because her threesome was being timed for slow play for several holes. "Was really tricky and challenge out there, but I gave my best".

With Lydia Ko also taking the week off, both Jutanugarn and So Yeon Ryu had opportunities to move to the top of the rankings for the first occasion although Ryu would have needed to have finish 4th alone or better this week if she was to do so.

Stacy Lewis followed an opening 67 with a 72 to drop into a tie for 19th at 3 under.
