Showers and storms continue into work week

Wednesday looks to have a break from rain chances but the extra clouds stick around and temperatures are in the mid-70s.

Rain began overnight, and is expected to continue through much of the day. Rain tapers off late this morning, followed by a lull in activity into the afternoon. More showers and storms possible for Sunday as another disturbance moves through the area. Highs will be warmer in the upper 70s to around 80° but certainly could be cooler if there's more rain that keeps temperatures cooler.

MONDAY: We'll have variably cloudy start to the day but a batch of showers and storms may roll into the Twin States during the afternoon. The front then stalls over the area and areas of low pressure ride the front like a train on a railroad track. Scattered showers and storms remain possible but not everyone will see rain.

Computer models show another round of showers and storms on Thursday.

Communities that receive the higher rainfall totals could be looking at some minor flash flooding problems in low lying and poor drainage areas.

The unsettled weather will shift east and high pressure will build into New England from southern Canada. But, by Saturday we should be back into the 80s.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy.

While it will become drier and brighter with sunny spells as the day goes on, the showers are due to appear again in the afternoon. Lows in the low and mid 60s. Winds SW/NW around 5 miles per hour.

Highs stay in the low 70's on Thursday with mainly cloudy skies.

Northeast winds at 5 miles per hour. The rain risk will be 60 percent. Winds: NE 5-15 miles per hour.
