Hackers behind stolen NSA tool for WannaCry: More leaks coming

This past weekend, Windows computers around the world were affected by the WannaCry ransomware attack.

Now, the same group is threatening to release even more hacking tools on the internet, which are part of a larger collection of exploits that they claim they stole past year from another hacker group that is believed to have been affiliated with the NSA.

While some of the exploits in the possession of the Shadow Brokers have already been patched, the rapid spread of WannaCry underscores how many individuals and institutions are still running laughably outdated software.

WannaCry ransomware attack might have slowed down, but it has managed to infect over 300,000 computers globally, with many businesses and even hospitals losing access to precious data. Obviously, the group could not care less about the harm this "data dumping service" could cause.

The group claims that they have been able to collect "compromised network data from Russian, Chinese, Iranian, or North Korean nukes and missile programs", banking information and Windows 10 exploits.

"TheShadowBrokers is launching new monthly subscription model", it explained.

In a blog post, the hacker group announced it was setting up a "monthly data dump" that would provide tools to break into network routers, web browsers, phone headsets and data stolen from central banks. Is being like wine of month club.

He added that most of the exploits The Shadow Brokers May release are still patchable, though exploits to Android handsets might remain "devastating".

Shadowbrokers are also claiming that they have very important information of nuclear and missile program of the countries like Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. On Monday night, the group-which so far has made good on most of the threats it has foreshadowed-published a new dispatch that claimed to possess 75 percent of the NSA arsenal.

In the Tuesday letter, they said they weren't "interested in stealing grandmothers' retirement money", but wanted to send a message to the Equation Group, a hacking group linked to the NSA. As is to be expected, the group notes that what members do with the exploits is completely up to them. At the end of the letter, the hacker group hinted the NSA could make all these problems go away if the agency paid up for the tools.

Hacking tools believed to belong to the NSA that were leaked online last month were built into WannaCry ransomware - also known as WannaCrypt - that swept the globe on Friday.

The Shadow Brokers said it chose to share screenshots from the NSA Equation Group's lost 2013 Windows Ops Disk in January, with the understanding that the Equation Group would then tell Microsoft and the vulnerability would be patched. "Microsoft has been critical of the U.S. government over this stockpiling of vulnerability code, and said this was equivalent to the government losing it stock of 'Tomahawk missiles".
