Miley Cyrus Releases New Single and Music Video for

The 32-year-old singer took to Twitter on Thursday to praise Cyrus for her latest single, "Malibu".

It seized the throne from Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee's "Despacito (featuring Justin Bieber)", which had ruled the chart since this past weekend. The album is described by Norris as Cyrus' "most DIY to date". "I never would've believed you, if three years ago you told me I'd be here writing this song", she sings in the country-tinged tune.

When Miley Cyrus' father Billy Ray Cyrus posted a picture of Miley to Instagram back in March in what everyone thought was a wedding dress, her mom Tish Cyrus had to quickly quell rumors that she had gotten married. In the video, Cyrus can be seen dancing in a field, running on the beach with colorful balloons, and sitting near a waterfall.

As much as it seems like a deliberate swing of the "Wrecking Ball" pendulum, it's clearly not just a marketing move but an earnest public mash note to on-again fiancé Liam Hemsworth, whose Malibu compound she recently announced she's moved into.

The chorus goes, "Here I am/next to you/the sky is more blue in Malibu".

Cyrus wrote the single while in transit on the way to her coaching gig on "The Voice" and had to stop herself from singing out loud.

She told Billboard that she worked on the upcoming album with producer Oren Yoel, who has previously recorded with Cyrus as well as fellow young pop star Tori Kelly. "So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, "This is how I feel"?" She'll be performing the track on the 2017 Billboard Music Awards May 21, and on NBC's Today show May 26.
