Turkey to take further anti-Kurdish military action in Iraq, Syria

Last week, Turkey struck at YPG positions inside Syria, killing 20 fighters and media activists, according to the group, prompting Kurdish parties to call for a US-enforced no-fly-zone over northern Syria.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the USA, and the European Union, and Turkey also considers its Syrian offshoot the PKK/PYD a terror group.

The SDF retook Manbij from IS control, and Turkey - with its troops nearby - said it won't allow the town to be under Kurdish control, threatening to move on it.

Erdogan said that when he meets with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on May 16 he hopes to change the American leader's mind about U.S. support for the Syrian Kurdish fighters.

Also yesterday, the Syrian military said its troops and allied fighters had repelled an ISIL attack on a strategic area held by the government in a southeastern area of Aleppo province.

An RT Documentary crew filming in northern Syria has seen Islamic State (IS, ISIS/ISIL) documents abandoned by retreating terrorists and found by the Kurds that, along with captured IS recruits, provide a stunning insight into the ISIS oil trade.

"I said yesterday: "We can come unexpectedly in the night".

It said that Turkey had pressed ahead with the air strikes despite U.S. objections and this "should serve as a warning for what could lie in store".

"Coalition forces are conducting joint patrols along the northeastern Syria-Turkey border to assess reports from both the [Kurdish] SDF and Turkey regarding skirmishes and cross-border fires between their respective security forces", an official from the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) Public Affairs Office told RT via email, confirming the deployment. Turkey often describes the YPG as a Syrian branch of the PKK.

The International Crisis Group (ICG) said in its latest report on the Syria crisis that the United States had "a singular dilemma" on the future of its relationship with the YPG. The base is 50km from Syria's Tal Abyad, a town controlled by YPG.

The issue has been a source of tension between Ankara and Washington that threatens to hamper the fight against IS.

"The huge America, the coalition and Turkey can join hands and turn Raqqa into a graveyard for Daesh", said president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The report, a result of an investigation by the USA military's Combined Joint Task Force, stated that this number did not include ongoing investigations into recent attacks such as last month's airstrike in Mosul, Iraq, which is believed to have resulted in more than 100 civilian fatalities.

The escalation of force between Ankara and the YPG could complicate the operation to liberate Raqqa, the ISIS capital in Syria.

"We hope that this military mobilization is not meant to provoke our forces or for another objective linked to entering Syrian territories". (That's according to US officials, by the way.) Yet Turkey does nothing. "We don't want any military confrontation between us, since our priority is to fight Daesh in Raqqa and Tabqa", Khalil told The Associated Press in text messages.

The Syrian president has categorically rejected accusations that his forces were behind the attack.
