Trump campaign says CNN refuses to run ad touting success

The Trump campaign is thumping its chest over CNN's insistence it remove the "Fake News" graphic from its ad celebrating President Donald Trump's first 100 days in office.

The $1.5 million ad buy will target voters in major television markets and online, according to the Associated Press.

Donald Trump faced the sober realities of his office on Saturday as he marked the 100th day of a presidency stamped by chaos and confusion, but he will also take political succor in a campaign-style rally among core supporters.

Trump has accomplished quite a bit: putting Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court; initiating some pro-life policies; promoting economic growth by restarting the Keystone Pipeline and pressuring companies to keep their operations in the United States. "This Campaign will be a voice for all Americans, in every city near and far, who support a more prosperous, safe and strong America", it says.

"You wouldn't know it from watching the news", the clip adds, taking a shot at "fake news" personalities like CNN's Wolf Blitzer, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, ABC's George Stephanopoulos and CBS' Scott Pelley. The biggest tax cut plan in history'.

Campaign ads, of course, do not make a habit of highlighting the candidate's weaknesses.

And the White House is under the cloud of investigations by Congress and the FBI into Russia's apparent interference in last year's United States elections, and whether there was any collusion with the Trump campaign.

Trump also did something in his first 100 days that his predecessor could not bring himself to do in his entire second term: He enforced Obama's red line against Syria's use of chemical weapons.

So yes, Trump is running for re-election.

At his rally Trump also said the U.S. economy had surged since he took office, reinvigorating America's construction, manufacturing and energy sectors, as well as its declining coal and steel industries-a key message for the crowd in Pennsylvania, a rust-belt state. Later Saturday the White House announced that Trump in a "friendly" call invited Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte-who has drawn worldwide condemnation for his deadly drug war-to Washington. "And I could not possibly be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles away from the Washington swamp spending my evening with all of you and with a much, much larger crowd and much better people", said Trump.

"Regulations that kill American jobs?".

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania Democratic and liberal protest groups turned out for an opposition rally and march in Harrisburg on Saturday to protest Trump, who chose to host his event in the same city he referred to as "a war zone" during the campaign. "I truly believe that the first 100 days of my administration have been just about the most successful in our country's history", Trump said in his weekly radio and web address to the nation on Friday.
