Hit by the Xbox One 'Black Screen of Death'? Try this fix

A lot of these technical arguments, however, strike me as somewhat avoiding the key question of whether Scorpio represents any kind of meaningful leap, or is just a graphics box on which you'll be playing functionally identical Xbox One and PS4 games. Here's hoping that it's ready to "bring it" when it comes to exclusive games that will take advantage of both the Xbox One and Project Scorpio.

Microsoft obviously thought so too, and so they've partnered up with Windows Central to reveal comparison images of a game running in 1080p on Xbox One, 1080p on Scorpio, and finally in 4K on Scorpio.

Although the screenshots were taken from a tech demo that Microsoft showcased at a private event, the differences between 1080p and 4K are still impressive. After that, the team started working on Xbox One Project Scorpio prototypes.

The same could be said with the initial releases of the original PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One and it is possible that the same thing could happen again. Microsoft is expected to reveal the price point of Xbox Project Scorpio at the E3 2017 gaming expo, ONMSFT reported. Essentially, though: these images are meant to sell gamers on those sweet, sweet teraflops of GPU power nestled in Project Scorpio.

We're expecting the Microsoft Project Scorpio to launch during the holidays near the end of 2017 and when it does users will get to enjoy some truly massive enhancements to resolution, textures, geometry, color and 3D rendering. The idea would build on the episodic model used most famously by Telltale Games and last year's Hitman, allowing developers to build upon a stable base provided by an initial release, supported by the funding provided by subscriptions. These effects will be at their absolute best for 4K TV owners but even buyers of the Scorpio who use it on 1080p TVs are being promised some serious improvements with the Scorpio's tremendous specs. How these new consoles play in the market over the next few years could reshape the nature of console cycles themselves.
