When she inquired about the motivations behind his actions, Quinn said that her brother did not believe that he had kidnapped Thomas.

A United States Attorney has filed a motion to hold Tad Cummins in Middle Tennessee before his trial.

Both were captured Thursday in northern California.

He appeared in court for the first time Monday where a federal magistrate ordered he remain in custody until U.S. Marshals bring him back to Tennessee. The 15-year-old is now receiving treatment from mental health experts.

A Tennessee high school teacher, charged with taking a student to a California commune to continue a sexual relationship, had his initial appearance in a Sacramento federal courtroom Monday.

The prosecutors say Cummins "made a number of damaging admissions to law enforcement that provide alarming insight into his mentality" during his post-arrest interviews. The charge carries a minimum 10-year sentence. There hasn't been much discussion about the ordeal itself.

Elizabeth's father, Anthony Thomas, told ABC News after Elizabeth was found, "She may not be exactly. the person she was because there's a lot of experiences she's had".

"She told us she didn't have access to telephone, internet, any electronic devices".

Kat Bozeman told News 2 that her 15-year-old sister still isn't quite home. He also faces charges in Maury County, Tennessee for the sexual relationship with the girl and with aggravated kidnapping.

Siskiyou County deputies formed a perimeter around the 12-by-12-foot cabin for several hours that night before drawing Cummins out the next morning to arrest him.

Seven weeks before he and the girl left Tennessee to spark what became a nationwide manhunt, Cummins was observed on January 23 by another student at the Culleoka Unit School kissing the 15-year-old alleged victim, according to the complaint sworn out by Columbia, Tenn. police detective Jonathan R. Hardison. Cummins, too, was gone, after borrowing his wife's Nissan Rogue and having recently filled prescriptions for erectile disfunction medicine and securing a $4,500 loan.

The trail went cold until Cummins and Elizabeth were discovered last Thursday in Cecilville, in remote northern California near the OR state line. Cummins reportedly told the tipster who called police that the girl was his 22-year-old wife.

Surveillance images showed them at a Walmart in Oklahoma City on March 15.
