Hernandez family planning private funeral in Connecticut

A spokeswoman for the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association said the former National Football League star's body arrived Saturday afternoon at the O'Brien Funeral Home in his hometown of Bristol. Hernandez's boyfriend, who has not been named by the media, is under suicide watch.

The body of former New England Patriot and Florida Gator Aaron Hernandez arrived in his CT hometown on Saturday.

The casket was driven from Faggas Funeral home in Watertown, Massachusetts where his body had been kept since the convicted murderer committed suicide in his jail cell before dawn on Wednesday.

The world will never know just how serious Hernandez might have been in regards to how serious he was about the threat, but once he was charged with a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, Rapaport reexamined the situation.

Hernandez's family released a statement for the public's "thoughtful expressions of condolences".

The 27-year-old hung himself with a bed sheet at the maximum-security Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts.

In a bombshell report, Newsweek explores the prison suicide of fallen National Football League star Aaron Hernandez, suggesting that the murder for which he was convicted may have been committed to keep secret his sexual relationships with men. Ernest Wallace, a co-defendant in the Lloyd murder case, was also apparently recorded saying that he wouldn't have helped Hernandez hide the weapon if he'd known he was a "limp wrist".

Other reports also indicate the corrections officer who confessed to missing the 2 a.m. cell check on Hernandez will likely be suspended for 30 days.

Lifesaving techniques were attempted and Hernandez was taken to UMASS Leominster where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. Authorities say he left three notes next to a Bible in his cell.

Hernandez attorney Jose Baez said the family had arranged for Boston University researchers studying brain trauma in athletes to take possession of Hernandez's brain following the autopsy.
