To-Do, Wunderlist's Successor, Is Available For Public Preview

Microsoft today announced the preview launch of a new "intelligent task management app" that's created to make it easier to plan and manage a day's activities.

You can create lists for whatever you need - groceries, work stuff, and home projects, for instance - and personalize them with colorful themes.

When Microsoft sunsetted the popular Sunrise calendar app that it acquired, there were fears that it would do likewise when it acquired popular list app Wunderlist. He noted that Microsoft To-Do doesn't now appear to integrate with Office 365 services, including password access. "Powered by Office 365 integration and an intelligent algorithm, it is the first step on our journey to simplify task management and help you achieve more", the company said in a blog post. One of them will allow users to automatically sync their Outlook Tasks with To-Do. The company also added that it won't shut down Wunderlist until it's confident that it has "incorporated the best of Wunderlist into To-Do".

"Wunderlist will eventually be retired as we continue to reinvent task management with To-Do".

This same approve-or-reject choice on the phone has been offered previously to Microsoft Accounts, but in the past, it still required the use of the fixed password.

To-Do offers all the security you would expect from cloud-based Office 365, including encryption. Microsoft is now looking to port over a majority of the preferred features to To-Do before - grab a seat - retiring Wunderlist.

Microsoft To-Do list opens with "My day".

April 19th saw the release of the public preview of the Microsoft To-Do.

A blog post from Ori Artman, general manager of Microsoft To-Do, does assert that To-Do, which is now available in a preview mode, "comes from the team behind the Wunderlist app".

Microsoft has updated its Authenticator app to enable users to sign-in to any Microsoft service by tapping a notification on their smartphone. Microsoft is making To-Do available for iPhone, Android, Windows 10, and the web. It's lacking a few features still, like list sharing and collaboration, but that's all on the way.
