Marcotte, 27, was a Google accounts manager who lived in NY.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said back in August that 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte was reported missing after failing to return from a Sunday afternoon walk in Princeton.
Angel Cordero Ortiz, 31, is the name of the suspect reportedly arrested.
Vetrano, 30, was also out jogging when she vanished, though no solid connections were ever made between the two murders.
Marcotte was a Google account manager who lived in New York City at the time of her death. DA Early said an alert state trooper in Worcester saw a man and a auto that matched the Marcotte murder suspect's description, and did a cheek DNA swab test that eventually led to Ortiz's arrest.More news: Tillerson: Russia 'failure allowed Syria chemical attack'
The body of Vanessa Marcotte, a Google employee, was found August 7, 2016, in the woods about a half-mile from her mother's home in the town of Princeton, Mass., about 40 miles west of Boston.
Colon-Ortiz was picked up from his residence in Worcester late on Friday night, placed under arrest this morning, and is being held at the Millbury State Police barracks pending arraignment at Leominster District Court on Tuesday. Early said more charges are expected.
Investigators found her body later that evening in a remote, wooded-area naked and partially burned.
Based on a DNA profile found at the crime scene and a witness statement, the DA released a description Thursday of the person believed to be connected to the homicide.
Authorities received thousands of tips related to the case.
