Easter egg hunts kick off this weekend

Easter is once again nearly here and children around Durban are looking forward to a holiday filled with sweet treats, chocolate eggs and loads of colourful candy.

"We loved it. It's really fun and they were helping him find eggs, and he got to meet the Easter bunny", she said. The egg can be likened to the tomb from which Christ arose, and finding an egg during an egg hunt can be related to the joy the women had when they reached the tomb and found Jesus was no longer there. "It turned out to be a nice day". Another egg hunt saw children confined to wheelchairs get their chance at collecting eggs.

The Mission Branch Library will hold an English story time and egg hunt at 10:30 a.m., and Spanish story time and egg hunt at 11:30 a.m. April 7.

"The mayor did a countdown and then everyone kind of goes for it", Hansen said.

The hunt took place at the West Point on the Eno city park - and, if you blinked, you would've missed the scrum of children scouring the field for pastel-colored eggs.

"It keeps getting bigger and bigger, so we've had to keep moving it to other parks to accommodate everyone", explained Hansen.

The egg hunt is sponsored by Corinth/Alcorn County Parks and Recreation and the event is much more than an egg hunt, according to Hill, who co-organizes the event with Bill McClain.

The next hunt begins at 11:15 a.m. for children in pre-kindergarten to second grade. "I look around, I find them, I pick them up and I put them in my basket real quick", Magdaleno said.

The Easter Bunny will be available for photos in the Post Bingo Hall after each hunt. Donations of hard-boiled eggs may be dropped off at the park at 10 a.m.

Thie said the department hopes to hold the event again next year, although, like with many outdoor events, the weather does not always cooperate.

She said she found it underneath the root of a tree, and the chocolate bunny she received for her efforts was almost as big as she was. Colorful plastic eggs were spread out in the grass at Weed Park, and roped off into different sections for the various age groups.
