The investigation into the matter, as well as possible Russian ties held by the Trump campaign and transition team remain underway (although thanks to Rep. Devin Nunes' stepping down, who will lead it or how it will progress is a bit of a mystery).
Longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone appeared on conspiracy theory outlet InfoWars to allege that Kushner is leaking stories to liberal media outlets.
"One senior official pointed to Trump's interview Wednesday with the New York Times, during which at least five senior White House staffers, as well as Pence, crowded into the Oval Office".
The White House is increasingly frustrated by the never-ending stream of stories about palace intrigue, warring internal factions and imminent staff shake-ups.
Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon have continued their months long feud.
The axe may fall soon on Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus.
Bannon's failure to stop the strike may reflect his waning influence within the administration at the same time Kushner's star is rising.More news: Phil Mickelson's gambler pal convicted: 'I'm in total shock'
And yet Kushner, who is truly his duplicitous father's son, did what NY real estate developers do.
One Trump aide, who sits on the Kushner side of the divide, bluntly acknowledged this tension and said it could be a reason for the President to not throw Bannon overboard for fear of what he may do to the presidency he helped build.
That was a departure from his so-called "America First" policy, which was championed by Bannon.
Trump has apologized for the comments he made in the tape, which he dismissed as "locker room talk". White House officials downplayed the move, saying it came at the discretion of new national security adviser H.R. McMaster.
In this case, Kushner has apparently already begun the process of amending the official documents to be more accurate. Trump became unhappy with disagreements among his top aides, the outlet added.
The report in the Wall Street Journal comes days after Bannon was removed from his position on the National Security Council and reports of his fractured relationship with Trump's influential son-in-law Jared Kushner.
But the benign explanation for Bannon's removal belies the growing strife between Bannon, Kushner and Gary Cohn, the National Economic Council director. I think this would be about his image.
