Shadab romps into Test side

Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq announced his retirement from global cricket and he will be playing his last series against West Indies in the upcoming three-match Test series to be held from 21 April, 2017.

Misbah will be leading Pakistan in the upcoming three-match Test series against West Indies beginning April 22 in Barbados.

Captain of Pakistan's Test team, Misbah-ul-Haq, announces his retirement from worldwide cricket.

"I was under no pressure from anyone", he added.

"I'm happy that the hard work I've been putting in off the field is transcending itself on the field but to me personally, I always prefer team performances and if I can contribute to a win then so be it", Brathwaite said.

He is Pakistans most successful Test captain with 24 wins from his 53 matches in charge, and briefly led his side to the number one Test ranking past year.

He is also Pakistan's most successful Test captain, winning 24 of the 53 matches he has captained in this far.

"It will be my last series and I had conveyed this to the chairman (Pakistan Cricket Board) quite some time ago", Misbah, who retired from ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals after the 2015 World Cup, said.

The 18-year-old leg-spinner gained the nod of approval to be one of five newcomers in the Pakistani Test squad, a mere 10 days after making his worldwide debut in the T20 series against the Windies in which he was named Player-of-the-Series for a haul of 10 wickets at 7.50 apiece.

"The upcoming series against West Indies will be my last".

The West Indies Test series scheduled for this month will be his last, Misbah confirmed.

Misbah, howevber said that he will continue to play cricket at domestic level and will continue his cricket activities for a while. "A cricketer should have fitness and passion for playing and if now he thinks it is the right time for him to give up worldwide cricket then it is good", he said.

"If I perform well and the team doesn't do as well, then it puts a damper on my personal performance and my spirit going forward". You get disappointed a bit with your failures but you don't give up.

Former test spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, now the head coach at the National Cricket Academy, believes young sensation Shadab Khan could play alongside Yasir Shah and form a lethal leg-spin pair for Pakistan.

He registered 10 test series wins as a captain, which is the most by an Asian skipper. However, leaving the 0-2 thrashing against New Zealand, followed by 0-3 whitewash against Australia, the 42-year-old has been the shining star for the side. "He has a wealth of knowledge on the game and we know he will make a great contribution", said Jimmy Adams, the WICB Director of Cricket.
