Comey told the House Intelligence Committee on Monday that the FBI is investigating "the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election - and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia's efforts".
In his think piece for the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, political analyst Vladimir Ardayev underscored that CNN didn't have any concrete proof to back up its so-called revelations that Russia and the Trump team had been engaged in "the release of information damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign".
Comey, with National Security Agency Director Michael Rogers beside him, repeated previous findings that the Russians hacked into the Democratic National Committee and indirectly passed stolen findings to WikiLeaks for the express goal of helping Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton.
Late in Monday's marathon hearing of the House Intelligence Committee, FBI Director James Comey reminded the nation that he was something of a hostile witness, reluctantly summoned to talk about Russia, Donald Trump and the 2016 campaign.
Four former Trump campaign officials - Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Carter Page - have been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation over their alleged links with Moscow. But other USA officials who spoke to CNN say it's premature to draw that inference from the information gathered so far since it's largely circumstantial.

Nunes said at a news conference he discovered the accounts of Trump conversations when he was reviewing intelligence reports and said the information was not related to Russian Federation, which is accused of interfering in the USA election.
"President Trump owes the American people and President Obama more than just an explanation, but an apology", Schumer told the press.

"The last line of [the CNN report] said, 'The FBI can not yet prove that collusion took place, '" responded Spicer, who frequently battles with CNN over its reporting on Trump's presidency. "I will say there is evidence that is not circumstantial, and it is very much worthy of investigation".
The committee plans at least one more hearing on the allegations next week.
"It's simply not possible to do a credible investigation if you take information that's pertinent to the scope of what you're investigating and bring it to the White House instead of bring it to your own committee", said Schiff.
