During a ceremony held on Tuesday in Amsterdam, Tseng Dar-jen (曾大仁), chairman of Taoyuan International Airport Corp., accepted the awards for the world's best airport staff and Asia's best airport staff from Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted, the airport company said.
Malaysia's airport immigration service has been named the best in the world by airline passengers.
The Skytrax awards come just one week after the Airports Council International (Global) announced Heathrow as the Best Airport in Europe amongst airports with over 40 million passengers for 2016.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards is the largest passenger satisfaction assessment, which involves surveys measuring airport service excellence and quality.
This year's Skytrax World Airport Awards were based on the results of almost 14 million questionnaires completed by 105 different nationalities of airline customers.More news: Sarah Michelle Gellar thanks 'greatest fans' on Buffy the Vampire Slayer anniversary
Cincinnati finished as the highest-ranked USA airport among the world's top 100 overall airport rankings, finishing 26th.
According to Skytrax, the award for the "World's Most Improved Airport" is based on the relative year-on-year quality performance by all airports featured in the World Airport Survey, and takes into account the change in rating together with performance changes across the different product and service categories in the awards. While we expand our facilities to serve more passengers in the coming years, we will continue to work closely with all our airport partners to further enhance the Changi Experience.
Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, said, "To be voted the world's Best Airport for the fifth consecutive year is a remarkable achievement for Changi Airport, and underlines the airport's popularity with worldwide air travelers". The organisers say that the survey and awards are independent of any airport control. A key directive of the survey is for customers to make their own, personal choices as to which airport they consider to be the best, underlining the brand as the Passenger's Choice Awards.
Taoyuan also finished in the list of the world's cleanest airports, at No.4, behind Tokyo's Haneda, Incheon and Centrair in Nagoya, Japan, respectively.
