Overwatch's new hero Orisa goes live on consoles and PC next week

It seems more likely that some kind of tie-in title, based in the Overwatch universe could arrive on the Switch instead, however, Blizzard have yet to reveal any plans for the new console.

They really knocked it out of the park with this one, and as the studio is getting ready to release another all-new playable character named Orisa, they've unveiled a behind-the-scenes video that explains the creation of the character and what she's meant to do within the context of the game. To celebrate, Blizzard released a brand new character introduction video on the official Overwatch Twitter page.

Orisa is an upcoming tank hero in Overwatch and she has quite a few tricks up her sleeve.

As it turns out, much of Orisa's inspiration came from Reinhardt and the role that he plays on a team. In fact the rest of Orisa's mechanical brothers and sisters were cast aside and forgotten precisely because they failed to protect the city from Doomfist, but Effi believed that with a little bit of tinkering, this mech could become something more.

"I know this feels a little longer than other PTR periods, but we think it will be for the better".

Fusion Driver: Orisa's automatic projectile cannon delivers sustained damage, but slows her movement while she fires it. As explained in the video, she was created to be a team anchor like Reinhardt, and once again I really love the thought and care that went into crafting this character.

Her Fortify ability boosts her personal defense, reducing damage taken and making her unstoppable for a short time.

"Halt!" allows Orisa to launch a mini-Graviton Surge to pull enemies close together briefly. She can throw a device that creates a curved, stationary Protective Barrier, ideal for intercepting projectiles and shielding teammates.
