Azeroth's finest scholars and explorers have today begun preparing for Journey to Un'Goro, the new expansion coming to Hearthstone, Blizzard Entertainment's smash-hit digital card game, in April Those courageous or at least curious enough to embark on an expedition to a land of primordial wonder will encounter ancient elementals, frightening flora, and some of the fiercest predators to ever inhabit Azeroth-all while unearthing 135 new Hearthstone cards to add to their collections! More importantly, however, it could spawn brute force deck building. Together with the expansion announcement, the company has also unveiled 135 new cards which will be included in the upcoming expansion. Specifically, Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament, and League of Explorers will leave Standard.
It's that time of year again, Blizzard has begun announcing the changes that will be implemented in the coming season, Year of the Mammoth.
Some of the existing minions will be given the Elemental type which will offer synergistic action with some of the new cards that are set to be added to the game as part of the new expansion. Players can include one Quest card in each deck and it is guaranteed to land their opening hand. Like Secrets in Hearthstone, Quests are cards that don't do anything at the moment they're played; they're effects that activate after you fulfill a set of conditions. Expansions like this keep players engaged and give them new digital packs of cards to buy, giving the free-to-play game a way to continue making money. The first Quest card shown by Blizzard, Awaken the Makers, is a Quest that, if successful, will award you the card Amara, Warden of Hope.More news: TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation
A new keyword mechanic is also being introduced, Adapt. Amara is a five-mana 8/8 (cue the four-mana 7/7 memes!) that is both a Taunt and sets your hero's Health (Priests only) to 40. Like in this example, where you have to summon seven Deathrattle minions. The patch has also made it possible to bring golden versions of cards into the Arena. So, you can't always depend on getting the one you want. This was shown off with the 2/2 creature Pyro which costs two mana to play. First, the card sort of marked the creation of a new tribe composed of Elementals. Players can get their hands on a new spell card (aptly named Volcano) for Shaman.
Journey to Un'Goro is scheduled to hit the virtual shelves sometime in April, with preorders available Tuesday with the usual rewards (pack discount, card back).
